Welcome to the homepage for the University of Georgia's Data Dawgs. Data Dawgs is an Informatics (an artificial intelligence discipline) organization at the UGA College of Engineering. We are mainly focused on Data Science with minor emphasis in Machine Learning and Deep Learning. We are excited that you are interested in learning more about our organization!

Maanasa Ghantasala

Founding Co-President

Maanasa is a third year Computer Systems Engineering student and serves as co-president of Data Dawgs. She has had internship experience in Web Development, Predictive Data Analytics and Android Development. She aspires to learn more about Artificial Intelligence and Data Science through her future internships. In the future, she plans on attending graduate school and becoming a data scientist.

Mariam Hammady

Founding Co-President

Mariam is a fourth year Computer Systems Engineering student and serves as co-president of Data Dawgs. She has had research experience in Data Analysis and Machine Learning through both the Artificial Intelligence department and College of Engineering at UGA. She aspires to integrate her knowledge in both Computer Science and Electrical Engineering to develop computer-based systems.

Daniel Lims

Vice President

Daniel is a fourth year Computer Systems Engineering student. In the past, he has worked as a Software Engineering Intern. He is looking to become a Software Engineer in the future and plans on sharing all his experience and knowledge with anyone in the same boat. He enjoys board games, swimming, and computer games when he has the free time. He is your Vice President!

Jackson Reid

Secretary

My name is Jackson Reid, I am the Secretary for UGA #DataDawgs, and I am a third year Management Information Systems major with a minor in Computer Science. I grew up in Milton, GA and have developed my love data science here at the University of Georgia. I look forward to having a great year with the organization!

Kevin Ear

Public Relations

I am an incoming Technology and Data Analytics Consultant intern at Protiviti. I am a seafood lover and basketball enthusiast. I am your Public Relations officer!

Michelle Li

Treasurer

I’m Michelle, the treasurer of #DataDawgs. I am currently a junior studying finance and marketing with interests in technology and statistics. This past summer, I had the unique opportunity to work as a data analyst intern and through my experiences, developed a passion for data analytics and cloud computing. In my free time, I enjoy videomaking, photography, and indoor rock climbing.

Nicholas Stonecipher

My name is Nicholas Stonecipher, I am the Workshop Leader for Data Dawgs, and I am a third year Computer Systems Engineering student. I am from Athens, Ga. and I personally specialize in systems administration with a growing focus of data science. Join us this year for an exciting series of workshops!

Ben Manning

Faculty Advisor

Ben Manning is an Instructor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at UGA's College of Engineering. Ben also serves as the faculty advisor for Data Dawgs, and is leading new informatics courses at UGA. His research interests include machine learning, decision support systems, smart cities, and the Internet of Things (IoT).

What we do

Data Dawgs is concerned with topics in Machine Learning, Informatics, and Data Science.

Data Dawgs will be hosting workshops in focusing on Systems Administration and Data Science, which is a growing field of importance in this computer-driven world.

Networking

Data Dawgs will be bringing in professors and industry professionals to lead presentations on how to be succseful as a data scientists.

Data Dawgs will be hosting workshops on different techniques and practices that every aspiring data scientists should know.
